Oh, we totally agree that average people will never read in english. I mean, it's almost a fact. Of course it's the passionate people who will read in english. And I think the big readers start reading more and more in english. (There are more and more VO readers genrerally speaking, but it only concerns the big readers, I wasn't discussing that fact)

Ah, I though we were talking about the little people :P
My bad, then. Indeed, it gets better for the big readers, if you dare crossing Durance's entry they should have a good deal of English books to try. And some silly guys are even polluting French-speaking forums with English topics, can you believe that? :D

I've just read one book in English, "Once Upon A Nightwish", a book about my favourite band =)
But I want to read other books, 'cause I love English so much and I'd like to speak/read/understand very well this language.
I also watch a lot of films in English. =)

    Haha, same feeling for me.
Since I've been following this forum, I never bothered reading the threads on the bottom of the page, so I'm just discovering this section right now ^^
I read many books in English, as I have been fond of this language since i started studying it. However, not-so-brave-me, they were mostly books for young people: the Harry Potter series, the last two books of the Twilight series (which, btw, is much better in English than in French), the Gossip girls series, some books by Roald Dahl...
But I also read The lost symbol and Angels and demons by Dan Brown, some by Harlan Coben (whose books I can't stand anymore)...
I still have the first book of Vampire academy series and Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane to read...

Yesterday, I visited the website The Story Siren and I saw several books which seem to be interesting. Those are all YA and I think if someday they'll release in France (with the same cover), I have no doubt some of you'll buy them :D

    Il sort le 10 mai.

In the City of Lights, two star-crossed lovers battle a fate that is destined to tear them apart again and again for eternity.

When Kate Mercier's parents die in a tragic car accident, she leaves her life--and memories--behind to live with her grandparents in Paris. For Kate, the only way to survive her pain is escaping into the world of books and Parisian art. Until she meets Vincent.

Mysterious, charming, and devastatingly handsome, Vincent threatens to melt the ice around Kate's guarded heart with just his smile. As she begins to fall in love with Vincent, Kate discovers that he's a revenant--an undead being whose fate forces him to sacrifice himself over and over again to save the lives of others. Vincent and those like him are bound in a centuries-old war against a group of evil revenants who exist only to murder and betray. Kate soon realizes that if she follows her heart, she may never be safe again.

In this incandescent debut, newcomer Amy Plum has created a powerful paranormal mythology with immortal revenants. The Paris setting comes enchantingly alive as a relentless struggle between good and evil takes place in its streets. Rich with romance, atmosphere, and thrills, Die for Me will leave readers breathlessly awaiting its sequel.

What if you knew exactly when you would die?

Thanks to modern science, every human being has become a ticking genetic time bomb—males only live to age twenty-five, and females only live to age twenty. In this bleak landscape, young girls are kidnapped and forced into polygamous marriages to keep the population from dying out.

When sixteen-year-old Rhine Ellery is taken by the Gatherers to become a bride, she enters a world of wealth and privilege. Despite her husband Linden's genuine love for her, and a tenuous trust among her sister wives, Rhine has one purpose: to escape—to find her twin brother and go home.

But Rhine has more to contend with than losing her freedom. Linden's eccentric father is bent on finding an antidote to the genetic virus that is getting closer to taking his son, even if it means collecting corpses in order to test his experiments. With the help of Gabriel, a servant Rhine is growing dangerously attracted to, Rhine attempts to break free, in the limted time she has left.

I already had my eye on "Wither" too. The cover is really nice. I guess we all check the same blogs. The Story Siren is one of my favs too :D Though I like "La femme readers" better, there's always wonderful picks there (and awesome covers :bave:) It's the best way to keep updated about YA new books !

    It's a good question ;-)  I'm curious to count then !
When a writer is an english man or woman (or american) I read the book in his language.
I think I have reading 30 books and more in English.  It's a good opportunity for me to improve the language.  And also, you haven't the problem of the interpretation of the translator.
I will make a list of my books !
    So I have
    Harry Potter (6 books)
    Twilight (3 books)
some Crichton and fairy tales and ...
    and now, I'm reading Narnia.
