I quite enjoyed Brighde Reborn. It is definitively a fun read, and the characters’ background is quite well developed. I am not saying you don’t want sometimes to shake one of them, nodding sadly the head because of the poor choices they make, but the story is nevertheless going smoothly. I definitively want to read the rest of the series, and discovers where the story is taking us.

I love Lissa Bolts’ other series, Stones & Curses. And you know what ? Ruling Magic is pretty good too ! I love the magical atmosphere, the charismatic characters, the world building, in short everything. It is a good urban fantasy novel. I finished the first book and was like OMG what will happen next ? Which is a good sign. So yes. Fun read. Loved it. Lissa’s writing is really good.

Jennifer Loy’s books are always crazy, full of unruly adventures. When you start reading one of her books, you know it is gonna be a fun and light read. Million Dollar Bra is the perfect exemple. I laughed a lot. I also asked a lot of why, or how. But it is the beauty of this novel. It doesn’t matter. It makes absolutely no sense sometimes, but who cares ? It is funny, and relaxing.

For Emilie, it is a nightmare. For the reader, it is the opportunity to discover the heroine in different facets. It is a very enjoyable story. Super quick read. I really enjoyed it. Family, friendship and love are at the heart of the story. Even if the concept of the same day repeating itself again, isn’t new, Lynn Painter created a fresh and sensitive story, with a pinch of humor.

Beaton’s graphic memoir is powerful, and so interesting. She depicts everything from the harsh reality of life in the oil sands where trauma is an everyday occurrence yet never discussed. For months, she lived in a small community where colossal machineries and machines were the only scenery. Her testimony as a woman worker in the Oil Sands is strong, deep and touching.

Retro is the kind of book that you cannot put down. It is like a millefeuille cake. It is good and sugary and you cannot stop eating it. And like the cake this efficient young adult thriller has several layers of reading. I loved how Sofía Lapuente and Jarrod Shusterman introduced difficult topics in the story, without overdoing it.
