EXCELLENT

From renowned neuroscientist Adrian Owen comes thrilling, heartbreaking tale of discovery in one of the least-understood sientific frontiers- the twilight region between full consciousness and brain death.
People who inhabit the "gray zone" of consciousness - so called vegetative patients - are victims of traumatic brain injury or disease. Often, they're believed to be incapable of thought - though, as Adrian Owen discovered in 2006, a sizable number actually have intact minds adrift within damaged brains and bodies. In into the gray zone, we follow Owen as he journeys past science's known boundaries to not only "find" patients who are trapped Inside their heads but to communicate with them. His techniques: sophisticated brain scans, auditory prompts, even Alfred Hitchcock film clips. By the book's end, Owen has shone a fascinating light on the inner workings of our brains and caused us to Wonder anew at the indomitable bonds of love.

Aussi enrichissant qu’émouvant, ce livre m’a fait prendre conscience de la fragilité humaine et des progrès de la science. Je recommande ce livre sans hésiter. La plume de l’auteur rend encore plus agréable la lecture.
