Amongst all the life in all the cosmos, there are beigns of enormous power. Some, like the Oans, call themselves Guardians - others prefer the term god. Kyle Rayner, Carol Ferris and the New Guardians have come to the planet Kalosa to witness one such creature, a newly risen deity named X'Hal, and the religion she has inspired, The Light and The Fire, as they spraid their faith to a new race.

Though X'Hal appears benevolent, the Guardians are skeptical of anyone with the power to remake a world. And not everyone believes that gods are meant to be worshiped. A group of dogmatic warriors calling themselves the Godkillers have made it their mission to free the universe from the plight of supposed divinity. Slaying would-be gods across the stars, they harbor a special hatred for X'Hal; her origins and their own are linked by tragedy, and they'll stop at nothing to end her influence permanently!

In the middle of this madness, Kyle is learning that his own power as the White Lantern may be surpassing even the Guardians'... which means he could be next to find himself in the Godkillers' crosshairs.
