It all begins with a challenge. Morgan sneers at Ditto for getting everything he knows out of books. Fiction, Morgan says, is a lie, a GAME played for FUN - not real, not life.
Ditto sets out to prove Morgan wrong. he writes the story of his holiday break from home and school. And he records it as it happens - a ragbag of kaleidoscopic bits and pieces.
Ditto is as surpised as anyone when his camping trip turns into a riotous adventure. At the end of it, he is no longer the inexperienced schoolboy who only knows life through fiction.
But is it all true? Or has he made it up? Was it only a game played with words? The answer, Ditto says, are there in his book for anyone who accepts his challenge to go looking for them. Just for fun, of course.
