Madeline Mpoyi made a choice to focus on the sweeter things in life; chocolates, strawberry laces and sherbet. After all, those things happened to be a million miles away from her childhood and her desperate escape from war-torn Rwanda. To thank the soldier who did all he could to help her and her father flee the horrors of her former homeland, Madeline sends boxes upon boxes of treats to give that same soldier a small glimpse of sweetness wherever he may be. To give him a thank you that can never truly be enough...

Captain Nathaniel ‘Cain’ Goldsmith never served in Rwanda. His father, Major Nathaniel Goldsmith did and never speaks of what happened there. In the midst of his own tour in Afghanistan, Cain begins to receive mysterious packages filled with his favourite things. He hadn’t realized how much he had come to depend on the mysterious Madeline’s sweet letters and even sweeter care packages. On his return to the UK, Cain has Madeline in his sights, deeply intrigued to discover the woman behind the confectionery…
