Synopsis
Spring, 1895. Constance Wilde - popular children's author, fashion icon and leading campaigner for women's rights - found her life changed beyond all recognition. Her husband, Oscar, was convicted of homosexual crimes. Caught in a storm of devastatingly public scandal, Constance was forced to flee, leaving her home, her life and her glittering literary and political career behind her.
Drawing on remarkable new material and previously unpublished letters, Franny Moyle reveals the fascinating and moving tale of a woman who was living at the heart of the world's insecure and claustrophobic morality, and was victim of one of the greatest betrayals of all time.
